Lord Dufferin (Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood) served as the Viceroy of India from 1884 to 1888. During his tenure, the Indian National Congress (INC) was formed in 1885.
The INC was established in December 1885 with its first session held in Bombay (now Mumbai), presided over by Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee.
