• 1714 - The first patent for a typing machine (similar to typewriter) was given to Henry Mill in London
• 1802 - Agostino Fantoni developed a typewriter which enabled blind to write
• 1808 - Pellegrino Turri invented a typewriter and carbon paper to provide the ink for his machine. His machine was intended to allow the blind to write.
• 1823 - Pietro Conti di cilavegna invented a new model of typewriter which was known as 'tachigrafo' or 'tachitipo'
• 1862 - Charles Thurber's Kaligraph writing machine was developed
• 1865 - Rev. Rasmus Malling -Hansen of Denmark developed the models of writing ball.
• 1867 - William Austin Burt patended a machine called the typographer
• 1870 - The first typewriter that enabled operators to write significantly faster than a person could write by hand was the sholes & Glidden typewriter. sholes & Glidden typed only capital letters and it introduced the QWERTY keyboard.
