In the constitution of India, Article no. 55 was introduced in the year 1949. This article mainly highlights the manner of the election of the President. Every person who is elected by the legislative assembly of a State of India shall have “votes” as per “multiples of 1000 and the remainder is not less than five hundred ” in quotient which has been obtained by division of state population by the total elected members of Legislative assembly.
