    Civil Excise Officer

    A Civil Excise Officer is an enforcement officer in the Excise Department, responsible for enforcing laws related to alcohol and narcotics. Their duties include preventing the production, distribution, and misuse of intoxicants such as alcohol and drugs and conducting awareness campaigns against substance abuse.They are empowered to enforce excise laws, arrest offenders in public places, and collect excise revenue on behalf of the state government. This role was previously referred to as "Excise Guard."

    Eligibility Criteria

    Educational Qualification

    • Candidates must have passed the Plus Two examination conducted by the Kerala Higher Secondary Education Board or an equivalent examination recognized by the Government of India or the Government of Kerala.

    Physical Standards

    Candidates must meet the following minimum physical fitness standards:

    • Height: Minimum 165 cm.

    • Chest: Minimum 81 cm (with a minimum expansion of 5 cm).

    Relaxations:

    • SC/ST candidates require a minimum height of 160 cm and a chest measurement of 76 cm (with a minimum expansion of 5 cm).

    Job Role and Responsibilities

    The job role of a Civil Excise Officer involves:

    Exam Date

    The Kerala PSC Uniform Recruitment notifications are generally published once every year or as per the need for vacancies.Most of the uniform posts notification is expected to be released in December. As we know, the validity of the rank list for uniform posts is one year. So the notification can be expected by the end of this month .The official notification regarding the exam date will be released after the application process is over.

    Salary 

    This post offered a competitive salary along with several allowances and benefits.The basic salary for a Civil excise officer falls in the range of Rs.27,900 - Rs.63,700 per month, depending on the pay scale and seniority. With this salary the following allowances will be included.

    1. Allowances:

      • Dearness Allowance (DA): Adjusted periodically to offset inflation.

      • House Rent Allowance (HRA): Provided if government quarters are not availed.

      • Travel Allowance (TA): Reimbursement for travel expenses during duty.

      • Risk Allowance: Compensation for the hazardous nature of the job.

    2. Additional Benefits:

      • Pension and Gratuity: For post-retirement financial security.

      • Medical Coverage: For the employee and their dependents.

      • Promotional Increments: Salary increases with promotions to higher ranks such as Leading Fireman, Station Officer, etc

    Stages of Selection

    1. Written Examination:

    • Question Pattern: Each exam will have 100 questions, carrying one mark each.

    • Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

    Candidates who qualify in the written exam will proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

    2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

    • Both male and female candidates must undergo a Physical Efficiency Test, which consists of eight events. Candidates need to qualify in at least 5 out of the 8 events.

    4) Medical Test
