Among the various government posts, Lower Division Clerk (LDC) is one of the most applied-for positions by aspiring candidates.     Eligibility

    The educational qualification for the Kerala LDC 2024 exam was SSLC (10th standard) or its equivalent. Though there was speculation about raising the eligibility to Plus Two, the 2024 exam still accepted SSLC as the qualification. Final confirmation about eligibility will be known only when the next notification is released.

    Age Limit

    • General candidates: 18 to 36 years
      (Born between
      02.01.1987 and 01.01.2005)

    • SC/ST candidates: Age relaxation up to 41 years

    • OBC candidates: Age relaxation up to 39 years

    • Persons with disabilities: Eligible for additional age relaxation

    Salary

    As per the latest LDC notification, the basic pay scale is ₹26,500 – ₹60,700. Including Dearness Allowance (DA) and other benefits, the initial monthly salary is around ₹31,000.

    Promotion Scope

    An individual who secures an LDC position has opportunities to move up the ladder to higher roles. Depending on the department and number of retiring employees, promotions can lead to roles such as:

    • Senior Clerk

    • Head Clerk

    • Junior Superintendent

    • Senior Superintendent (Gazetted Post)

    • Administrative Assistant

    • Administrative Officer

    Those with higher qualifications may also receive faster promotional benefits.

    Last Notification details 

    • The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) released the notification for the Lower Division Clerk (LDC) 2024 recruitment on 30th November 2023(Category No. 503/2023), with the application period running until 3rd January 2024. The exam was held on 26 July 2024, others report it as 27 July 2024. 

    • The volume of applicants is estimated to be in the several lakhs, following the usual trend of Kerala PSC exams. District-level shortlist data gives insight into the competition—Thrissur had 1,864 candidates, Kozhikode had 1,667, and Malappuram shortlisted 1,900 candidates.

    • Each district has a separate rank list comprising a main list, supplementary list, and differently abled category. For instance, it shows 344 candidates in the main list, 364 in the supplementary, and 20 from the differently abled category. Cut-off marks varied across districts, ranging from 57 in Kannur to 69.33 in Kozhikode. After the written exam, candidates underwent document verification, and district-wise ranked lists will publish soon on the official Kerala PSC website. 

    Next notification?

    The rank list for the current Kerala PSC LDC exam is expected to be published soon, and once released, it will remain valid for three years—until 2028. Based on this timeline, the next LDC notification is likely to be issued by mid-2026. This provides a valuable window of opportunity for aspiring candidates to begin their preparation early.
