    The SSC GD, short for Staff Selection Commission General Duty (GD),is a national-level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The SSC GD recruitment process selects candidates for constable roles in India’s central armed forces, including:

    • Border Security Force (BSF)

    • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

    • Assam Rifles (AR)

    • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

    • Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)

    Eligibility Criteria 

    a. Nationality

    • Candidates must be Indian citizens.

    • Some allowances may be provided for candidates from Nepal and Bhutan, subject to conditions set by the Indian government.

    b. Educational Qualification

    • Candidates should have passed Matriculation (10th class) or its equivalent from a recognized board at the time of application submission.

    c. Physical Standards

    • Height, chest, and weight requirements vary by gender and category. Relaxations apply based on caste, region, and other factors per SSC guidelines.

    d.Age Limit

    • General category candidates must be between 18 and 23 years (Candidates born between 02 January 2001 and 01 January 2006 (both dates inclusive)

    • However, the upper age limit is often extended for other categories:

      • OBC: 26 years

      • SC/ST: 28 years

      • Additional age relaxations may apply for candidates with certain qualifications or experiences, like Ex-Servicemen.

    Salary Structure

    The SSC GD salary structure offers a competitive package along with various allowances and benefits. Here’s an overview of the SSC GD Constable pay scale, basic salary, and additional perks:

    1. Pay Scale: ₹21,700 – ₹69,100 (Pay Level 3, as per the 7th Pay Commission).

    2. Basic Salary: ₹21,700 per month.

    3. Gross Salary: Approximately ₹30,000 to ₹32,000 per month (varies slightly based on location and allowances).

    4. In-Hand Salary : After deductions, the in-hand salary for SSC GD typically ranges between ₹25,000 and ₹60000 per month, depending on the allowances applicable based on the location of the posting.

    • Dearness Allowance (DA): 17% of the Basic Pay

    Selection process

    1.Written Test : the first stage in the recruitment process for candidates aiming to join India’s central armed forces. This online test evaluates candidates' aptitude in areas essential for the role. 

    2.Physical Efficiency Test (PET): After qualifying in the written exam, candidates move to the physical tests, where they must meet specific endurance and fitness standards. This test varies slightly between male and female candidates and may include running, high jumps, and long jumps

    4.Medical Examination: A medical test checks candidates' health, eyesight, and other physical conditions.


    5.Document Verification: In this final stage, candidates provide necessary documents for verification before final selection.

    Exam date

    SSC GD Constable recruitment drive officially began with the release of the notification and application form on September 5, 2024, on SSC’s official website, ssc.gov.in. SSC GD Application submission date was available from 5th September to 14th October 2024. The last date for payment of fees was October 15, 2024.The correction window for making changes and corrections in the online application form was available from 5th to 7th November 2024 for the candidates who had applied for the SSC GD Constable exam.

    As per New Update of SSC it has confirmed the schedule for the SSC GD Constable Exam 2025. This computer-based examination is set to take place from February 4 to February 25, 2025. Candidates will soon be able to check the status of their applications, which will indicate whether they have been approved or rejected. The release of the application status is anticipated by January 20, 2025.

    Exam pattern 

    The CBT consists of four main sections:

    1. General Intelligence & Reasoning: 20 questions for 40 marks

    2. General Knowledge & General Awareness: 20 questions for 40 marks

    3. Elementary Mathematics: 20 questions for 40 marks

    4. English/Hindi Language: 20 questions for 40 marks

    The test has a total of 80 questions worth 160 marks, with each correct answer earning 2 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer, so accuracy is essential.It  is conducted over 60 minutes (1 hour), and candidates can choose to take the test in either English or Hindi
