ഗോവയിൽ നിന്നും പോർച്ചുഗീസുകാരെ 1961 -ൽ പുറത്താക്കിയ ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ നടപടിയാണ് ഓപ്പറേഷൻ വിജയ്.കര, നാവിക, വായുസേനകളെല്ലാം പങ്കെടുത്ത ഈ സൈനികനടപടി ഏതാണ്ട് 36 മണിക്കൂർ നീണ്ടുനിന്നു, അതോടെ ഇന്ത്യൻ മണ്ണിൽ 451 വർഷം നീണ്ട പോർച്ചുഗീസ് അധിനിവേശത്തിന് വിരാമമായി. ഈ ആക്രമണത്തിൽ ആകെ 22 ഇന്ത്യക്കാരും 30 പോർച്ചുഗീസുകാരും കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു.

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ അണക്കട്ടാണ്‌ ഹിരാക്കുഡ് അണക്കെട്ട് ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഭൗമ അണക്കെട്ടും ഹിരാക്കുഡ് പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ്‌. ഒറീസയിലെ സാംബല്പൂർ ജില്ലയിൽ മഹാനദിക്കു കുറുകേയാണ്‌ ഈ അണ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. 4.8 കിലോമീറ്ററാണ് ഇതിന്റെ നീളം. 1946-ൽ നിർമ്മാണം ആരംഭിച്ച ഈ അണക്കെട്ട്, 1957-ൽ ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്രുവാണ്‌ ഉദ്‌ഘാടനം ചെയ്തത് . പ്രധാന അണക്കെട്ടിനു പുറമേയുള്ള 21 കിലോമീറ്റർ നീളമുള്ള ചിറയാണ്‌ ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലുത് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. രണ്ടു അണയും ചേര്ത്താൽ ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിപ്പമുള്ള അണക്കെട്ടും കൂടിയാകുന്നു ഇത് (26 കി.മീ)

Ram Nath Kovind (born 1 October 1945) is an Indian politician currently serving as the 14th President of India, in office since 25 July 2017. Previously he had served as the Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 and was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006.
